Exploring University Students’ Difficulties in Writing English Academic Essay

Academic wiring is one of the essential skills in academic writing, and it vital to support students' self-development through opinion grant essay writing others. This study explores difficulties English essays dominant challenges by using a mix-method approach. The qualitative used collect data, while quantitative find difficulty percentage—the data analysis uses indicators from Brown (1999). sample this was 30 students fifth semester Education Study Program at Universitas Kristen Artha Wacana. results showed that still experienced serious four aspects writing; content, organization, discourse mechanics. most (97%) were found in; 1) thesis statement; 2) related ideas; 3) development 4) use description/cause effect, comparison/contrast; 5) effective introduction; 6) topic sentence 7) reference. Writing are challenging for program. Further research recommended investigate causal factors practical strategies teaching courses.
